TANZANIA: COVID-19. Update May 4, 2021
With a special notice on 3 May last year, the Tanzania authorities announced the adoption of new measures against the spread of the Covid-19 contagion against all travelers leaving or arriving in the country and in particular:
1. Complete an online form, available at the link: https://afyamsafiri.moh.go.tz/travel_guide/, within 24 hours of the scheduled date of arrival in Tanzania.

NOTICE FOR TRAVELERS NO. 7 OF MAY 4 2021
The government of the United Republic of Tanzania has continued to implement measures to control the COVID-19. pandemic. Based on the global epidemiological situation and the emergence of new variations of the virus causing COVID-19, it increases the risk of their import into our country. As such, the Government of the United Republic of Tanzania has decided to elevate and strengthen the prevailing preventive measures, especially regarding international travel. In view of this, the government is updating Travel Notice No. 6 of May 3 to version No. 7, in force from 4 May 2021 to accommodate additional measures relating to international travel as follows:
1. All authorities at entry points should ensure compliance with preventive measures by travelers and staff, including hand hygiene, alcohol-based disinfectants, physical removal and the use of facial masks.
2. Due to the current COVID-19 epidemic situation in India, all flights to and from India are banned in Tanzania. This ban will take effect until further notice. Exceptions will be: a. Cargo planes, in which case the crew will not be able to disembark from the means of transport.
b. b. Planes carrying out operations approved by the competent authorities regarding humanitarian, diplomatic and medical assistance.
3. The return of Tanzania residents who have been to India as students, for work or medical care will be subject to the procedures described in numbers 4, 6 and 7 below.
4. All travellers, whether they are foreigners arriving from India or those who have travelled through India in the last 14 days regardless of the route taken, will undergo a rapid test at the entry point followed by strict contact tracing and 14 days of mandatory quarantine at your own expense. Passengers under mandatory quarantine must choose a location from the list (available at airports or at https://www.moh.go.tz/en/) designated by the government. Returning residents from India will be able to isolate in their homes under a rigorous surveillance system.
Page 1 of 35. Upon arrival at any point of entry (airport, land crossing or ports), all travellers
or return residents will be provided with hotline health information cards
number and recommends self-monitoring symptoms and signs. Just in case them
develop any symptoms and signs, they will be tested and treated at designated
health care facilities by the government at its own expense.
6. All travellers are required to truthfully complete an online traveller's surveillance form
available on https: afyamsafiri. Mohhhhhh. Go. Go. tz within 24 hours before arriving at
Tanzania.
7. All travellers, both foreigners and returning residents, will have to present
a negative COVID-19 molecular test certificate upon arrival. Test should be based on
Real-time reverse transcript polymerase chain test (RT-PCR)
using the sample collected within 72 hours before arriving in Tanzania.
8. All travellers, both foreigners and returning residents entering the U.S.
Republic of Tanzania, will undergo strengthened screening for COVID-19
infection including rapid test. Rapid test cost is USD 25 per traveller.
9. Travelers in transit in other countries should be more than 72 hours
re-tested from a rapid test on arrival in Tanzania.
10. Crew members must submit a valid negative COVID-19 test
certificate as entry or departure condition. Also, they will be selected
for symptoms and signs in line with the country's protocol.
11. While in the country, all international travellers should join Infection
Prevention and control measures such as hand hygiene, the use of masks and
physical removal as deemed appropriate.
12. All incoming means of transport must provide advance information on passengers for this purpose
allow the authorities at the Entry Points to examine the manifest as far as possible
identification of high risk passengers.
13. The pilot / captain / driver in command of the means of transport must, before / upon arrival, present
to health authorities at the duly completed points of entry transport health declaration

14. All transport operators must adhere to infection prevention and control
measures such as hand hygiene, mask use and physical distancing like
Adequate.
15. Incoming means of transport will be subject to decontamination at the point of entry
where necessary.
Page 2 of 3 Additional measures for trucks/vehicles carrying goods and services:
I. I. Have only 2-3 crew members per vehicle to ease border crossing in the region;
I'll see you later. Crew members must declare their final destinations at the points of entry (POE) and during the journey, they can only stop at the places designated by the government;
III. III. The truck will be decontaminated before allowed to continue to its final destination if the driver or crew members are suspected to have COVID-19 or COVID-19 tested positive;
th. Driver or crew members will be subjected to a strengthened screening at entry points and can be quarantined or isolated at designated facilities at their own expense in case they are suspected of COVID-19 infection;

In case crews are quarantined/isolated during transit, owners/truck operators must make necessary arrangements to support their crew to ensure that goods are delivered to their intended destination;
All drivers or crew members with COVID-19 negative can be randomly selected for a new quality assurance test on arrival;
