 New rules for those who have to go to Zanzibar.

Zanzibar Archipelago, having a semi independent government, can through its government which is called the Revolutionary Government, ratify and enact its own laws and circulars.
For those who travel to Mainland Tanzania, i.e. Dar es Salaam or Kilimanjaro, Travel Advisory nr 7 (in the guides and communication of this group) is worth.
Differences are few. Basically in Zanzibar they accept the rapid test as well. Instead in mainland Tanzania they only want the RT-PCR molecular swab.

COVID-19 REQUIREMENTS UPDATED FOR TRAVELERS TO ZANZIBAR

In March 2020 Zanzibar documented its first COVID-19 case confirming it runs the risk of importing new COVID variations and its ensuing transmission. Considering its close connection and integration with regional and global economic activities such as direct charter flights and transport in seaports, sorting our people with international tourists and a significant network of international flights to and from Zanzibar. Based on the current global epidemiological situation and the emergence of new variations of the virus causing COVID-19, the Zanzibar Revolutionary Government has decided to strengthen preventive measures, especially regarding international travel, as follows:
1. All travellers are required to complete truthfully the online traveller's surveillance form available at:
within 24 hours before arriving in Zanzibar.
2. All travellers (with the exception of children under 5 years of age) will have to submit a negative COVID-19 test certificate on arrival. The test must be based on the real-time Poimerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR) performed within 72 hours or on the rapid antigen test (Ag-GDT) conducted within 24 hours before arriving in Zanzibar.
3. All incoming travellers will be subjected to strengthened control measures at the port of entry. Travellers with signs and symptoms of COVID-19 will be tested and, if found positive, will be managed at designated health care facilities in accordance with Zanzibar's operational guidelines.
4. All travellers arriving from countries with new COVID-19 variations based on WHO daily update, must be tested rapidly at the point of entry at the cost of USD 25. If tested POSITIVE, it will undergo 14 days of mandatory quarantine at your own expense.
5. Travelers subject to mandatory quarantine will choose a location from the list of hotels designated by the government.
Residents returning to Zanzibar will be allowed to isolate in their own homes, in accordance with Zanzibar COVID-19. guidelines.
6. While staying in the country, all international travellers and returning residents must adhere to infection prevention and control measures, as requested.
7. All incoming means of transport must provide the passenger list in advance, to allow the authorities at the point of entry to check for high risk passengers.
8. Transportation crew members will undergo a strengthened screening at entry points and can be quarantined or isolated at designated facilities at their own cost, in case they are confirmed positive for COVID-19.
9. A negative COVID-19 test result on departure from Zanzibar is not necessary, unless required by the airline or destination country.
