we do not have corona in Tanzania & zanzibar
OFFICIAL COMMUNICATION
On Tuesday 25th, Stefano Totisco and Antonella Balestra, we met the Principal Secretary of the Ministry of Health in Zanzibar to ask for information about the precautionary measures taken in Zanzibar against Covid-19 (Coronavirus).
The Ministry has already put in operation, together with WHO (World Health Organization) a plan to address danger. As you may have seen, on arrival in Zanzibar via port or airport, all passengers are checked the temperature. Those who experience symptoms are separated from other passengers and tested. Where the test results positive, quarantine is arranged from 14 to 21 days in Zanzibar.
The Ministry also uses a team of volunteers and officials at local level to raise awareness of the population and to give a first answer to possible cases. All these people have been trained and have individual protective equipment.
There are three isolation centres: at the international airport, in Zanzibar port and Mnazi Mmoja hospital.
No suspicious cases have been registered at this time.
There are no specific measures for Italians who continue to be welcomed.
As a representative of our country I also explained the measures taken by the government and regions to block outbreaks of infection in Italy.
Generally speaking, it seems to us that there is a good control and response capacity. We will stay in touch with the Zanzibar authorities for any update.
A greeting
