Mafia Island Marine Park's waters hold some of the most extraordinary and unaffected reefs in the world, with some of the finest unbleached coral varieties in the Indian Ocean, and more than 400 species exploiting the myriad niches.

Lodge owner Jean de Villiers is a PADI Master SCUBA Diver Trainer. Armed with an encyclopedic knowledge of Mafia's dive sites, he is able to tailor dives to the specific needs of each group. Safety is stringent: no dive group exceeds six; novices are limited to two.

Jean's wife Anne is a PADI Dive Master and an accomplished underwater photographer, a 'nudi-nutter' ready to introduce everyone to the incredible beauty of microscopic invertebrates.

Groups are always accompanied by the lodge's experienced dive crew.
