 FOR YOUR INFORMATION!   The Serengeti is the most famous of Tanzania's national parks located on the northern circuit of safari itineraries.The park is renowned for its annual migration of over 1.5 million wildebeest and usually accompanied by about 250,000 zebras and 200,000 gazelles.  Ceaseless columns of wildebeest swarm into the Serengeti, blanking the plains on their way to Maasai Mara, thus making a safari to the Serengeti well worth it.  The massive Serengeti is 14763 sq. km of endless rolls of plains dotted by kopjes (rock outcrops), and patches of flat-topped acacias, woodland, swamps and lakes. The word Serengeti itself is a Masaai word for "endless plains". It provides sanctuary to the highest concentration of wildlife in the world.  It is home to about 4 million animals.  FOR YOUR INFORMATION!   The immense volcanic Ngorongoro crater, along the northern circuit in Tanzania, is the world's largest unbroken caldera, also described as  the "Eighth Wonder of the World". The crater along with other places of interest is located in the Ngorongoro conservation area which is a  protected world heritage site and in the conservation area over 42,000 Maasai  live and farm in harmony with wild and dangerous animals.  The gigantic depression is 19km wide volcanic crater surrounded by towering steep walls and sheltering forests, grassland, fresh springs and a large lake called Lake Magadi well known for its flamingos.  For any visitor a breathtaking and unforgettable moment is when you first set your eyes on the crater about 600m below the crater rim. ABOUT LAKE MANYARA NATIONAL PARK

 FOR YOUR INFORMATION: The Lake Manyara National Park is found on the northern circuit of Tanzania safaris, located at the base of the Great Rift Valley and has a total area of 320 sq. km.  The Great Rift Valley forms part of a fault in the earth's crust which runs 800 km from Turkey to the mouth of the Zambezi River in Mozambique. On entering the gate of the park, is the lush ground water forest whose tall trees are home to troops of baboons and blue monkeys. The forest then opens up into woodlands, grasslands and swamps and the lake itself is home to over 550 species of bird. Lake Manyara, which occupies about 70% of the total area, is a shallow saline lake attracting masses of pink flamingos as well as pelican, storks, sacred ibis, Egyptian gees and cormorants.
